Insanity Workout + {Asian Layered Salad}

Confession time:                       I HATE WORKING OUT. There, I said it!!  I always like how I feel afterwards, but the before and during always suck. That being said, structure is good for me...which is why I've started the 3 month "Insanity" workout program.  Dear Hubby bought it a year or two ago thinking that we would do it together, but we only lasted about 2 weeks because it hurt his knees/joints too much. ... I Love Spring + {Bird's Nest Cookies}

Spring was ushered in this week by a blizzard in Denver; though it was much less of an event here in the mountains, ironically.  I don't know about you, but I am a HUGE fan of Spring. I love the longer days. I love the sunlight. I love the snowmelt. I love the flowers. I love the birds chirping. And I love the symbolism of new life and growth.  If you missed yesterday's blogpost, I revealed the start of something new -- the renaming of this blog -- to Nosh And Nourish. ... The Big Reveal: {Nosh & Nourish}

I am sooooo excited to share this news with you: I am rebranding/renaming my blog "Nosh and Nourish."  Before you freak out, let me explain.  :)  I have been blogging for over a year now and have grown, changed and evolved in both my writing and photography as well as my recipe creation.  I am quite happy with the current site as far as layout, content, and overall format...but something wasn't sitting well with me with the name any longer.  Sugar isn't my only focus. I am about healthy food and healthy living, in general. ... Read more » about The Big Reveal: {Nosh & Nourish}

Smiles + {Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Bread}

This past weekend was all about my little girl and making as many smiles happen as humanly possible. #priorities #nonewblogpostonMonday  We hiked. We lowered the temp on the hottub and splashed around as a family. We fed peanuts to squirrels. We ate fish tacos with my inlaws. We swang at the park. And we accomplished nothing. And it was perfect... and needed.

Oh, and we ate chocolate-y peanut butter bread. ... Read more » about Smiles + {Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Bread}

Beach Vacation + {Lime & Avocado Ceviche}

Dear Hubby and I don't vacation much. I think because we just don't like spending the money! During our eight years of marriage, we have been on 2 "big" vacations - one was our 5th anniversary where we went on a week long fly-fishing adventure in Montana. We stayed at this cute cabin B&B right on the river, and spent our days fishing, hiking, and exploring. I'm happy to say that to my surprise I out-fished Dear Hubby on that trip.  You can check out one of my bigger catches (rainbow trout) here. ... Healthy Substitutions + {Veggie Fried Quinoa}

I am now in the habit of making healthy substitutions for my family. If I can keep a similar taste but include better-for-us ingredients, then I'm all in!! Some recent examples include my healthy key lime pie, my double-decker tacos, and my Zuppa Toscana. And with my father-in-law's recent heart attack, Dear Hubby has been even more willing to try new things in the name of better health.  I haven't changed everything all at once, but am slowing making over some of our favorite dishes. ... Meatless Monday + {Kale & Corn Hash}

Yes, I realize it's not actually Monday and that it is now Tuesday. But, I wanted to take a minute to talk about this nationwide (worldwide?) phenomenon called "Meatless Monday."  It's growing in popularity and scope - and maybe not for the reasons you think.  Why I like participating: 1) It saves my family money.  Meat is expensive, especially if I try to keep it organic, so going vegetarian at least one day a week helps my grocery budget significantly! 2)  It's good for us! ... A No Sugar {Chocolate Torte} for my love

It all started with my recent recipe success - making the absolute best (& healthiest) Key Lime Pie, which happens to be Dear Hubby's favorite dessert.  If I could create an almost identical taste and experience to an all-time favorite, but with 70% less sugar using banana and squash puree & greek yogurt, then I could do anything! And, for the first time since I started blogging (over a year ago) Dear Hubby put in a recipe request this past weekend. ... Read more » about A No Sugar {Chocolate Torte} for my love

Babycakes' Lunch + {Sunrise Citrus Juice}

Happy Saturday, y'all!  Yesterday a couple of things dawned on me while I was making Babycakes' lunch:       1) WOW, it sure was beautiful and colorful. 2) My girl is growing up soooooooooo fast! Remember when she was just a little baby? 3) Babycakes likes eating what I eat --- she's like a little mini-me :)   and 4) I'd love to start a new blog feature where I highlight one or two of her lunches each week to give you all some good ideas on what to feed your own kids (or yourself!) ... The Absolute Best (and Healthiest) Key Lime Pie

Ever since Pillsbury posted my Banana Cream Pie Bites to their Facebook page and one of their fans suggested a key lime pie version, I have been a woman on a mission: to make an even more perfect, low sugar, healthier version of this classic dessert recipe.  Perusing the internet only found me "healthy" versions that subbed in low-fat sweetened condensed milk instead of the full-fat version or used jello and cream cheese.   I knew I could do better. First of all... ... Read more » about The Absolute Best (and Healthiest) Key Lime Pie
