Gym Update + {Almond Mocha Green Smoothies}

It's been a week since I joined a gym, the first step towards my summer goal. I went every single day, which is more than I'll normally go...but I wanted to get in the habit of being there and I wanted to take a couple different classes to see what was most challenging and motivating. I have settled into a 3 - 4 days a week schedule with a couple of group classes for high intenisty interval training and once a week strength-training. After this week, literally every muscle in my body hurts! But in a good way. I think I've discovered part of the reason I have such a slow metabolism -- I have like zero arm muscles, lol! The good news is you've gotta start somewhere, and I've started, and I'm just going to keep getting stronger! The other part of my summer goal: to eat more filling breakfasts.

Introducing Almond Mocha Green Smoothies:

I am alternating between 3 main breakfasts:

  1. Green Smoothies filled with fiber, protein, and healthy fats that keep me super full well into the day
  2. Scrambled eggs with garlic-y greens, avocado, and turkey
  3. This Avocado toast
But I've gotta say, I am really loving the smoothies!  And this one has nut butter, chocolate, AND coffee.
Do I really need to say more?!

People often ask how many greens should really go into a green smoothie. My answer: a lot!! You can't really taste them, so you might as well pile them high! Here's a pic of my filled-up blender before blending:

I found out that I do not like ice in my smoothies -- just frozen fruit or frozen almond milk to achieve the cold factor. It keeps them creamier and more delicious. You are going to LOVE this one!!

Here's a pic of me after one of my first days at the gym. Cute and optimistic. But, lately, I've been working so hard, getting my heart rate up, sweating profusely, huffing and puffing, and turning obnoxiously red in the face that I don't take selfies afterwards. I try not to even look in the mirror, lol.

And just because she's so darn cute, I had to share this pic of Babycakes in her new shades. We're getting ready for a trip to the beach! #cutiepie #pinksparkles

Question:

  • Do you like green smoothies? Do you put a lot of greens in?
