Each day as I would write my next blog post, it just didn't feel completely right. The structure was good. The key elements were there; but it was missing something. The site was too bland, too gray, too techy to fully express who I am and this exciting journey that I'm on. So last night, my live-in web developer (dear hubby) helped me redesign the blog to infuse more style/artistry, more of me. I am very happy with the new look! Being married to the best Drupal developer in Denver definitely has its benefits! Next item for refinement: my food pictures.

As you may know, I'm two weeks into this thing...into the daily blogging experience, into the newly focused weight-loss mode, etc. And though I do have specific short-term and long-term goals set out that I'm working towards, I'm finding there are little milestones along the way that are so fun to celebrate as well: ... There I said it. I eat frozen meals on occasion. I know, I "should" make all my own foods from scratch, go to the local market weekly, and whip up something delicious and healthy to provide for my family. There's a lot of things I "should" be doing...but I just don't have time. As I'm sure you know, there are a lot of gross frozen meals out there, enough to potentially dissuade you from ever taking a gamble on one again; but, amidst all of the rows and rows of rectangular boxes, there are ... Isn't funny how in every stage of life you think you're soooo busy, and then as each stage progresses you just get even more busy? In college I thought life was so busy - all those classes, all that studying, and all that free time to work out and hang out with friends. Yeah, life was hard... ha! Then came marriage and the "real world." Whew, that was busy - finding my first real job, paying bills, shopping for a house, taking our dogs on walks, and all those free quiet evenings to do whatever we wanted. Yeah, life was hard... ... I'm Italian. I grew up eating my grandmother's spaghetti every week. I remember waking up to that powerful smell of garlic and tomatoes, evidence that my dad had been in the kitchen since 5AM. We had bread served with almost every dinner. I love Love LOVE tomatoes. And I wholeheartedly prefer pasta to rice. But I'm also on a diet, a very public diet that the world can see. Does that mean I can never eat pasta again?
I don't think so. ... Read more » about Hold the cream sauce.

I'm like a grandma who's never used a cell phone before, when it comes to Twitter. I'm all thumbs. I don't get it. (Insert deeply furrowed brow). Why is so much punctuation used?? ?!! @@ ## @ ^ &@@ ## WTH?!?!? But, I know I want to use it for my blog... so, I've taken the plunge. I've created a handle. Ha! Just a week ago I didn't even know what that meant. No, not a love handle (I'm trying to get rid of those!!)... ... Read more » about Twitter, Tweets, and a Kale Fail #@##@

So...did my efforts pay off??? Before we get to this week's weigh-in/reveal, I must say I do feel like I worked harder than usual this week. Which is a good thing. I felt a lot more intentional. I thought about what I ate: whether it was helping or hurting my goals. I thought about moving and being more active, and put those thoughts into action (though I can still do more!). ... If you don't have 3 minutes a week to spare, you need some serious help. (ie. stop. drop. roll! your life is on fuego!!) A new study came out by the BBC that claims you can get fit(ter) by exercising a certain way for 3 minutes a week. You read that right. Not three minutes a day, even!! 3 MINUTES A WEEK. I was intrigued. Are you? Are you alive??? ... Read more » about Got 3 Minutes??? A WEEK?

I made a super yummy new Mexican dish tonight... and I followed no recipe. I created my own, and it felt (and tasted) astonishingly good!
Introducing K's Steak Mole over Polenta! And of course I documented the whole process by photo for your enjoyment :)
First, I sliced pre-made polenta (plain flavor) and baked it in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes while I was preparing the rest of the meal. ... Read more » about Recipe: Steak Mole over Polenta
