Less is More + {Orange Glazed Carrots}

Starting today, I'm going with "Less is More" as the new mantra for this blog.  It came to my attention (from another blogger) that all the time and energy spent on writing daily posts (or 5x a week) might be falling on deaf ears.  Readers (like you!) are in blog-post overload. Recipe overload. Pinterest overload. You need some time to digest (and cook) all the wonderful recipes I'm publishing/creating for you. And you like the posts you do read to be meaty, well thought-out, and informative. So, I took the question to Facebook, and you, my actual readers, agreed.  Three times a week seems like the perfect balance for you AND for me.  So for the next month or two, I will be posting three times a week - on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays... and including a new (fantastic) recipe in each post.

Introducing Orange Glazed Carrots:

I recently took Babycakes to the local organic farm near our house to pick berries, and while we were there we bought these beautiful veggies from their barn/store (purple and yellow "green beans", tiny purple onions, and the brightest orange carrots you've ever seen):

I love supporting the local farm and look forward to spending more time there in the future!

I decided these particular carrots needed to be made into something sweet and savory.  Glazed, but not covered in brown sugar? I was up for the task.  I wasn't sure how they'd turn out, but was pleasantly surprised!  I'm sure the 1.5 Tablespoons of real butter helped :)

Beautiful and sweet, just like Babycakes.

A perfect low-sugar, but savory, side dish that even a veggie-hating hubby will love.

Questions:

  • Do you like getting local produce, from farmers' markets or farms?
  • Any low-sugar recipe requests? (I'm working on a few current requests: pumpkin bread, baked beans, and carrot cake! - to share with you over the next few weeks!)

"Readers (like you!) are in blog-post overload. Recipe overload. Pinterest overload." <- AaaaaaaaaaaMEN! Oh my gosh, there are SO many fantastic blogs out there...experiences to share...recipes to try...and THEN we have our OWN blogs to maintain! I applaud your decision to cut back (just gives me more time to catch up on your posts! ;)) I know it was a hard choice for me to make when I went from daily blogging to 4-5 times a week, but it took a TON of stress off of me. Now I try my best NOT to blog if I feel like I'm doing it for the wrong reasons...I never want it to feel like a chore or an obligation. I started blogging for fun...for ME and I never want to forget that!

I LOVE shopping at my local farmer's market! Although from the sight of the pickins' this past weekend, you can tell that most of them are gearing up for the end of the season. I couldn't find a single zucchini in the whole place! :( Those little purple onions are adorable! And yes, I just referred to food as "adorable" Lol! I'm in love with that vertical pic of the veggies...the angle, the colors, the dish...everything!

Can't wait to see your recipe for baked beans! Being a southern gal, I can surely appreciate you putting your low-sugar touch on some of those!

Oh yeah, and I'm totally making your Chobani bread sometime this week...I've had my eye on it since I got my box of Cho in the mail a few weeks ago! I'll let you know how it turns out! :D

yep yep, amen to that. I can only manage 3-4x a week. And that's a lot for me. I'd rather be in the kitchen or enjoying a meal with friends and family rather than worrying about my next post. Good call Kelly! and GOOOOODNESS i want those carrots. BUTTER me UP!

I agree completely! So many good blogs out there, but blogging for the sake of blogging is a waste of the reader's AND the blogger's time! :)

a) YAY - so glad you're going to try one of my Chobani breads!! I think the banana chocolate chip is my favorite :) definitely let me know how you like it!!
b) yeah, I'm super excited about the baked beans. I think I'll be sharing those next week.
c) glad you like my veggie pic :) I've been working on improving my photography skills over the past few weeks. I even broke out the tripod and grilled my hubby to show me how to use some of the advanced settings on the camera...ha!
d) I would love you catch up on posts as I'm cutting back on how many new ones I do per week :)

I might have to join you! ;)

3x a weekers right here!! WOO WOO

all the cool bloggers are doing it... (kidding) :) Your recent posts on tearing down idols, keeping the important things the most important, etc... are pouring into my life/decisions as well. So thanks for speaking truth :)

I have been thinking the same thing! Cutting back to five times a week was HUGE for me...and I've recently been thinking with the new business, the new school year, and new love of running (plus just wanting some time to, well, BE) I might need to cut back even more. I'm in overload.

Plus, I sometimes just like instagramming better anyway. :)

I think I'll be switching to posting about every other day--for both me and my reader's sanity! :)

Aww, I completely understand but personally, I love reading your daily posts! Every morning when I get into work I check my emails, then I read your post, then I start my day. It is soo time-consuming though, I can imagine and stressful. My blog is extremely dusty to say the least and I don't even have a toddler to run after. Aww, I will miss you on Wednesdays and Fridays ::tear:: but I understand.

If you feel in withdrawal, you can email me on those days :) I hope that you'll see me other places those days as well - like on jointhereboot.com and other guest posts that I write throughout the year. I'll still probably post questions/interactions/other links on Facebook every day...just not a new full blog post here at nosugarsweetlife on Wed & Fri. AND - it's just an experiment for a month or two. I "might" change my mind later as I go through things if I feel like I (or you) are missing out on something b/c of the fewer posts. :) Have a GREAT Monday!!!

I'm looking forward to that carrot cake recipe! ;)

Ooo, these look yummy!

I made my own version of banana bread this weekend with NO sugar and totally thought of you. :) I'm going to be sending you an email - we have GOT to plan a get together soon. :)

Yay for the no sugar banana bread and our potential get-together :) I just emailed YOU.

Good thinking friend! I don't get how people blog every single day!!

These sound so good... I need some help with my side dishes, they are always meh. :)
