I never wanted to be one of those people. You know, the ones who let themselves go once they get married. I don't think I did that per se intentionally; but, I definitely didn't get myself in check year after year that I gained weight. As I said in an earlier post, eating just an extra 100 calories a day can lead to a 10 pound weight gain per year.
That's about right... 7.5 years of marriage x 100 calories a day = BAM.. 75 pounds!!!
But, enough about the past. This post is supposed to be about goals and the future.
LONG-TERM GOAL:
Reach my wedding weight. 139lbs (so, minus 40 from today's initial weigh-in). I would like to reach this by the end of this year, Dec. 31st, 2012... which should be TOTALLY doable. Because, daaaaaaaaaaaaang, I looked good!!
SHORT-TERM GOAL(S):
Get into the healthy BMI range (instead of Overweight) by May 1st. This translates into a weight of 166lbs (so, minus 13). I will need to lose 1.5 - 2 pounds a week to achieve this... again, should be TOTALLY doable.
Work out for at least 20 minutes a day. Time for a confession again. I don't enjoyhate working out. There I said it. But I know I "should" and I know it will make a difference in whether I meet these goals or not. SO, I will commit to at least 20 minutes a day through May 1st. I plan to accomplish this differently each day, so some days I will do a workout video in the evening, some days I might run up and down the stairs in my office building over lunch, some days I'll take the dogs on a long walk in the neighborhood, and some days I might split the 20 minutes into two 10 minute chunks. But I will do something cardio or weight-lifting related for 20 minutes EVERY DAY.
Write a blog post every day. I have a lot to say and by golly, I just think this is FUN!!!!... so I hope you check back often!
And, to end this post, I'd like to share one more wedding pic that I've always been particularly fond of. I just look so skinny-minny from the side :) And look at those thin svelte arms... ahhhh... :)
