6 Tips for Better Snacking

Who loves snacking?! Today I'm partnering with goodnessKNOWS snack squares to bring you 6 simple tips that will help you snack more mindfully and help you meet your goals one small step at a time --- whatever they may be ---             to become stronger, to lose a few pounds, to do yoga 30 min a day, etc...

First of all, I wanted to share with you that goodnessKNOWS® recently debuted a new, bolder logo design and new packaging that highlights the delicious ingredients on the front of each pack. Aren't they so pretty?!

Definitely more eye-catching and modern and colorful.

Keep an eye out for the new look on shelves near you!

Now for those tips on better snacking...

1. Stock your pantry and fridge with healthy options.

You are in charge of what food you buy and bring into your house. If you don't have chips, donuts, jelly beans, and pop tarts hiding in your cabinets, then you won't be tempted to snack on them. Instead, stock up on good-for you options like fresh fruit, veggies, hummus, nuts, goodnessKNOWS snack squares, Greek yogurt, etc.

2. Measure things.

This is key when it comes to mindful snacking --- know how much you're actually eating! There are certain things that I always measure out, like 2 tbsp of hummus (otherwise I might eat half the tub without even realizing it! Anyone relate?!?!?) and 1/4 cup of nuts. That's part of the reason why I love the goodnessKNOWS snack squares so much. They're perfectly portioned into four snackable squares per pack – all for 150 calories and they're gluten free with no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.

3. Eat a hearty, filling breakfast.

When I have a satisfying breakfast like the smoothie bowl shown below, or a power bowl with eggs and greens like this one, then my need/desire to snack throughout the day is so much less. You can snack more mindfully when you're not starving!

4. Take your time.

Don't rush through it. Take your time to really enjoy the flavors and textures of your snack. Savor each and every bite.

5. Bring your own snack tray to parties!

This is one of my favorite things to do --- you can guarantee there will be some healthy options at the party by bringing them yourself! This simple, super colorful snack tray includes a variety of fruits (blueberries, strawberries, and cherries) + a variety of nuts (almonds and pistachios) + goodnessKNOWS snack squares + a variety of veggies with carrot hummus (rainbow carrots, snap pea crisps, and grape tomatoes).

6. Drink water and/or do some physical exercise first.

Sometimes your body is actually just craving water, not food! Try satisfying yourself with a big glass of water with lemon first or get up and move and see if your cravings pass. Try going on a 10 minute walk or doing some yoga.
