Reboot Part 2 JUICE ONLY: Menu, Shopping List, & Cost

So the first 5 days of the Reboot are coming to a close. I'm headed into the JUICE ONLY portion of the Reboot...a part which I think is almost easier than the really strict "eating/juicing" phase. There's something nice about less choices. What am I going to eat today? Um, juice. It is recommended (and I agree) that you should try to reach an 80/20 ratio between veggies and fruit. You're going to get the most benefit and nutrients out of the veggie juices and your energy will stay more level than if you constantly give it fruit juices (full of NATURAL sugars). The other thing people often ask about is whether they can just buy store-bought juices. Store bought just can't compare to the nutrients in fresh juices. BUT, if you're in a hurry or out at a lunch, and it's your only option, then yes... get a store bought juice. Just make sure it's 100 juice and doesn't have added sugar, corn syrup, or aspartame in it.
So, here we go!! A couple tips:
-
Aim for about 20 ounces of juice per "meal"
-
Sip your juice through the day
- First thing each morning: Drink 16 ounces of hot water with lemon, then enjoy your juice.
Day 6:
- B - Sunset Juice: 1 large sweet potato, 4 carrots, 1 bell pepper, 2 beets, 3 apples, 1 orange. (makes 40 oz)
- L - Leftover Sunset Juice
- D - Mean Green Juice
- Bedtime - Hot Green Tea
Day 7:
- B - Leftover Mean Green Juice
- L - Homemade V8
- D - Pink Kale
- Bedtime - Hot Green Tea
Day 8:
- B - Leftover Pink Kale
- L - Carbeeple
- D - Green Energy: 4 c. broccoli florets, 4 c. baby spinach, 1 bell pepper, 2 small Granny Smith apples, handful of parsley
- Bedtime - Hot Green Tea
Day 9:
- B - Sweet N Tart Citrus: 3 cups cranberries, 3 oranges, 2 grapefruit, 2 limes, and one small piece of ginger
- L - Leftover Green Energy
- D - Sunset
- Bedtime - Hot Green Tea
Day 10:
- B - Leftover Sunset
- L - Mean Green
- D - Cucumber Melon (substitute leftover bell pepper for "sweet peppers")
- Bedtime - Hot Green Tea
**Make sure you HYDRATE!!**
Drink lots of water: 64 - 100 ounces a day! (The jointhereboot site also mentions drinking Coconut Water daily. I personally am allergic to coconut, coconut milk, etc... so ignore this part completely.)

Happy shopping, happy weekend, and happy juicing!!
Questions:
- Any exciting weekend plans?
- Are you planning any exciting meals this weekend? (While I'm juicing I can live vicariously through the description of your yummy meals!)
PS. Total cost of these 5 days = $60. So only $12/day!!

All Juicing!!??!!
Hubby and I completed day 5 today and just got back from shopping for the upcoming 5 day juicing portion . I must admitt I am a bit nervous about this portion of the reboot. We feel so good right now - more energy/less bloated so we will follow through We also bought a few vegetable we've never tried at the farmers market today! We are changing the way we view veggies and hope this will be lifestyle change.
less than a week of your life
that's how I'm choosing to look at these 5 days. It's less than a week of my life overall... I CAN DO IT!! And I'll appreciate those eating days all the more in a week's time :) How are you two feeling today? What have been some of your favorite juices?
leftover juice
I see on Day 7 you made a double batch of V8, what do you do with the other half you don't drink? Do you cook with it? I started last month and fell off the plan, I have been juicing along with regular eating, but reg eating has now since taken over. I am now ready to start fresh, and I love your blog! I have about 50lbs to lose and Sugar and carbs are my nemesis!
double batch
So glad you're loving the blog!! About the double batch instructions... When I juice I always want to make at least 40 ounces, so it covers TWO 20 ounce "meals." The original v8 recipe I posted didn't yield that much juice, so I am having everyone double the recipe.
Juicing
I'll be honest today has been a little harder on me. I woke up feeling great but by this afternoon I was feeling very tired and really wanting to eat something - anything! It is my TOM so I'm hoping that has something to with it. We love the Mean Green - sipping on it now. I'm looking forward to trying the Pink Kale Juice tomorrow. We decided to use your menu vs the jointhereboot because it is more affordable. I do have one question - what is the difference in benefits between juice/eating and all juicing?
JUICE ONLY - day 2
I didn't feel that great yesterday either (juicing day 1), but am feeling sooooo much better today. I think it's just another minor adjustment our bodies have to get used to. The Reboot is structured with the juicing/eating phases at the beginning and end of the Reboot to ease your body INTO being ready for just juice and to ease you back into full time eating. It would be too abrupt for your body to be munching on steak one day and then only give it juice the next 5. So I guess the "Benefits" of doing the juicing/eating part is that you are being kind to your innards and getting them used to less sugars, meats, dairy, etc... before going to only juice. I think the hardest part is having discipline near the END of the Reboot to do the 5 days of fruits/veggie eating, because by that time you just want to eat more "normal" again. But, take it slow!! Your body will thank you.
Coconut Water???
So, I went to this AMAZING farmers market this weekend - never been - it's out in Dekalb. Entering this place was like entering a foreign country - so amazing and everything produce under the sun around the world! My question is this - coconut water - I saw these things that looked like a 6 inch high 12 inch round white pencil and it was right by the coconuts and asked one of the produce staff - he said it was coconut water - light bulb - I need coconut water for the classic - so he used a machete and ripped open about 10 of these things and poured into a 1/2 gallon container - so I get it home and I'm suppose to drink 16 oz a couple times a day - I DON'T like it :( - it's got a really distinct smell and sweetness that makes me gag a bit. Is all coconut water like this? I've managed to swallow about 20 oz since Saturday but yikes - that's a hard one. Any insight from your perspective Kelly?
I'm not feeling so great - I had the purple power juice yesterday and felt nauseous for a few hours. I’m sticking with it although I had some of my veggie soup last night with my coconut water – yummy soup but YUCK to that Coconut water.
I figure if I keep juicing and eat my soup at night I'm still going to see good results - it's got to be better than eating non veggie/fruit foods??? Right???

All Coconut Water is NOT Created Equal
My husband and I are on day 4 of the reboot and we looked around for coconut water before we started. We tried coconut water from an actual coconut and it tasted horrible. (You're supposed to get it from a baby coconut and we got it from a ripe one) We went to a local natural food market and found C2O, a canned coconut water (17.5 oz, pulp free). I hate coconut but I love this water! It's hard to describe the taste but if I had to, I'd say it tastes like odd chocolate milk. You can buy it on Amazon but it's a little pricey; you can find it cheaper at a local natural food market. Good luck!!
How does this stuff taste?
I have to be honest. My husband and I are planning on starting this program on Saturday with another couple that we are friends with. I am not going to lie. I am the pickiest eater ever. How bad is this stuff? I think I can do it, I have a strict policy that I can do anything for 5 days, but I have a lot of weight to lose. I am looking to lose about 75 lbs overall. I know that is going to take a lot of work and way more than 5 days so I want to know before I start how much I am going to need to pscych myself up for this.
:)
My hubby is suuuuuuuuuper picky and hates veggies - and he drank (and enjoyed) all but the V8. You can always add an apple (or two) MORE to any recipe that you feel needs to be a bit sweeter. Just experiment and tweak as you go. But, dare to try something new (like beets in a juice) even if you normally wouldn't. And you're right... it's only 5 days!!!!! Good luck, and keep me posted on how things go! That's awesome that you're doing it WITH another couple. Will make it a bit more "Social."
exercise?
Can I workout during the Reboot?
Yes
Here's a link to the official Reboot site. They say, yes, you can indeed exercise...but suggest a lower intensity/duration: http://www.jointhereboot.com/faq-can-i-exercise/
Reboot Part 1
Where can I find Reboot Part 1??? I've looked all over your site, and can't find it.
Thanks.
sorry about that!
It's on my to do list to make a comprehensive reboot page with all links and recipes. And I'm not on my computer at the moment, or I'd send you the direct link...For now, search for "reboot" in the search bar at the top and it should bring them all up for you!
Day 7 - V8
On day 7 you say to make a double batch of the Homeade V8, but I don't see it listed again on another day. Are you doubling up for that single meal since the nutritional info for the recipe only comes to approx 190 calories and 8g of protein?
Mean Green
I'm finding the shopping list to not quite match up with the recipe for mean green. I think I may have done it wrong :/ It says to make a double batch, so I followed the recipe and did it twice. This used the 8 golden delicious apples and 4 lemons (but the shopping list only calls for 3?). Further on in the 5 days, it says to use mean green for a third time. The shopping list only has 8 golden delicious apples listed, and as I already mentioned 3 lemon. Is the recipe posted the double batch? By the way, LOVE the mean green juice. it is amazing!
ooops, mistake
No problem!
This just means I got extra juice that day! :)
Juicing
Hi Kelly,
Do you or Joe use Grapefruit in any juices? I can't seem to mind recipes using it.
Thanks!
Cheryl
