{Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie} - HLTT7

I ate a LOT of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as a kid.  And peanut butter and honey. And peanut butter and banana. To this day, I still love peanut butter. Like reallllllllllly love it!  There was a study released right after I got pregnant with Babycakes that said eating peanut butter while pregnant was bad and that it could contribute to allergies in children after they were born. I'm serious, giving up peanut butter for nine months was one of the hardest things I'd ever done! I didn't miss the coffee. Or the sushi. But the PEANUT BUTTER?!?!?!?!?!?! You better believe I was digging in to a jar with a big spoon shortly after we came home from the hospital!

Introducing this week's Healthy Living Thirsty Thursday:

{PB&J Smoothie}

Incredibly high in protein and calcium, this smoothie delivers a heavy nutritional punch.  It features Chobani Strawberry/Banana Greek Yogurt, almond milk, and flax-enhanced peanut butter.

It has all the comfort and creaminess of a traditional pb&j, without the bread.

Or you could try my Peanut Butter & Jelly Pancakes, if you're in the mood for using a fork.

Question:

  • Which childhood favorites do you still enjoy as an adult?

Oh Peanut Butter... I feel sad for people who have peanut allergies, I honestly do! It's better they don't know what they are missing. I ate so many PB&Js as a kid and I still love them although now I prefer PB and banana, yum! I don't know about a childhood favorite, but as an adult, learning this recipe was life-changing. If you're ever up for making a low-sugar version of this I would certainly not complain! "Montecristo" peanut butter and banana sandwich: PB and banana battered and fried up like french toast served with syrup. Oh my! Heaven!

I was allll about the PB&J sandwiches growing up! They're still one of my favorite things to this day. I also love a bowl of mac 'n cheese every once in a great while!

My top two faves are PB&J and mac 'n' cheese. Can you make a mac 'n' cheese drink?! :)

I love PB&J. I also am a huge fan of ants on a log. Thanks for sharing!

Love this! A couple times this summer I made a cherry-peanut butter smoothie that reminded me of PB&J too :)

This sounds delicious! I thought I struck gold whenever I first found out about the PB&J Lara Bar, but this might just be better! :)

On my reboot now (day 1) but will have to give this a try using my PB2 sounds yummy

Definitely going to have to make this for the fiance who is a crazy PB&J fan! :)

I love me some PB too!!! I don't know how you gave it up for 9 months! I have never heard of giving it up while pregnant! That is good to know for the future!

this was very good. super easy. Yeah!

Hi Kelly,
What is PB2 and where do I get it?
I love your website.
Thanks,
Kellli

PB2 is a powdered peanut butter product. You can order here: http://www.bellplantation.com or it's on Amazon.com, it has 85% less fat and calories. I use it in my smoothies and to bake with all the time. LOVE the stuff!!!

Enjoy!!!

The recipe looks really yummy. I do have a question though. Why is the smoothie green? The pic on my screen reminds me of a mint chocolate shake without the chocolate chips. LOL I was just curious of all the ingredients why it looks this way.
