I Shall Loathe a Little Less...

There aren't very many things that I loathe in this world...like really loathe.  But, the tupperware drawer has GOT to be one of the top five!!  UGHHHHHH!  Every time I open it, I am filled with disgust, and regret, and ANGER!!!  Where is that dang matching lid?!?!?!?!?  So today I did something about it.  I've thought about it a thousand times: what would my life be like if I started over with Tupperware?  What if I threw all of it away: all those mixed and matched pieces, all those weird sized lids, all those containers that cause me so much anger on a fairly regular daily basis, and bought ALL new Tupperware?

Well today was that day.

Thank you, Ikea, for having reasonably priced Tupperware that stacks, coordinates, and feels like a breath of fresh air!

I know my Tupperware drawer won't look this perfect forever, but for this moment in time, please just join me in celebrating this wonderful occasion.  It feels amazing!!!

What else do I loathe?

  1. The act of chore of matching socks from the clean laundry pile. I have similarly dreamed of throwing all the socks in my entire house away, and only buying one color/size for each member of the family!  How easy would that be?!?!?  Who needs fancy socks anyway?
  2. Cleaning the shower.  No matter how hard I scrub, it never really seems clean enough.  I blame it on my weak arms.
  3. When people tell you they're going to do something and then don't.  I'd rather them say nothing at all.

What's on your loathing list?

Let's go back this weekend.

I was at Costco this weekend and stood looking at the 30 items box of tupperware thinking of doing the exact same thing. I didn't, but I may have to now. I can't stand the randomness of the pile! On the sock front, I'm pretty fortunate in that Matt has found one sock he really likes from REI, so half of his are the same. It is a small piece of laundry heaven.

Joy gave André a lot of pairs of all the same socks when we got married (per his request) It has seriously been a great gift to him and me - I recommend it!

Cleaning the shower is the WORST. Agree completely!

For cleaning the tub minus the elbow grease, I use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers...No chemicals required, you can reuse it multiple times, literally wipes the tub clean with a few wipes, even with tough soap scum!

Jeff likes Hillshire Farm deli meat for lunches, so I use alot of those FREE glad-ware containers-all the same size and lids.
On a funny note, unconsciously, when I am frustrated or mad at something/someone, I tend to clean out and organize the container drawer!!! Don't know why. So, depending on my mood, it is either organized or not :)

What is the cheese? Non-dairy? Does it taste the same? Melt the same?

As you know, I am a follower of FlyLady. So cleaning the bathtub shower is a non-issue. Every single time we shower/bathe, before getting out, we soap up the buff puff with just shampoo or shower gel and wipe all surfaces down and rinse . It stays shiny and squeaky clean this way, so you never have to "clean" it again. Takes about 2 minutes. Then about 3x/week, we spray it with Tilex Daily Shower cleaner right after we get out (still have buff puffed it down before getting out).
Now, before you start this simple 2 minute daily routine, I recommend doing your last BIG INTENSE scrub.
Please try this...it works, and one less thing to "loathe"

PS...I hear it is fashionable, esp for kids, to wear unmatched socks LOL...don't think I'm ready for that in my 50's :)

Hi, my grandmother has a secret... she pins socks together with safety pins before washing and drying, and it works perfectly.
