The Important things in life...

Soon SOMETIME, I plan to do a more involved "About" Page so anyone new to the site can get to know who this blogging girl really is: Who I am, Where I came from, Likes, Dislikes, more detail about my journey, etc... But for now, as a quick stand-in, here's a few of the most important things in my life.
1) Dear Hubby
We were grouped together the first day of class in "Interpretation & Argument" our Freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University. We had no idea at that moment that we would one day (4 years later) begin a life together. Though not being able to relate on the whole weight-loss struggle, he is my best friend, my rock, my support, and my everything. I love you DH!! (he sometimes reads my blog- we'll see how long it takes him to read this!)

2) Babycakes
I really had no idea how life-changing motherhood would be, but wow... she is the most beautiful, smart, amazing little girl that I have ever seen. I love her sooooooo much my heart hurts sometimes! I want to protect her and guide her and show her how to love herself and her body, and I cherish every giggle, kiss, and smile on her cute little face. :) Here is a pic of us together when she was only 8 days old. I LOVE this pic.

And here she is a few months ago on the way to the park (19 months old). How can I ever say no to that face?

3) God
Though life has definitely been busy lately, I can't forget the most important person(s) in my life - God and my relationship with his son, Jesus. It is His great love that allows me to love. It is His great strength that allows me to be strong. I became a Jesus-follower in college, though I'd attended church most of my chlidhood... but I didn't really know what it meant to love Him and have a real relationship with Him until later. I don't really have a pic of "God" to include; so I'll put in part of our most recent Christmas card. The pics + description sum up what I'm thinking pretty well.

This year we celebrated our baby girl’s first birthday, her first steps, her first words, and her budding independence. It has been so fun to watch her grow and explore. Seeing her interact with her daddy often makes me think of our Heavenly Father and how He wants to know us, teach us and delight in us.
Parts of Psalm 23 -
You lead me beside peaceful streams (or lakes).
You renew my strength.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.
You prepare a feast for me (pbj sandwich)
in the presence of my enemies.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love (kisses)
will pursue me all the days of my life.
This Christmas we hope you will open your hearts to Him; let Him lead you, strengthen you, feed you, satisfy you, love you, and know you.
4) Family
I am so thankful for my parents, who have raised me to be the (wonderful) woman I am today. They are an amazing example of what it looks like to have a loving, thriving, growing Godly marriage.... they celebrated their 34th anniversary in May! They mean so much to me!! It is really fun seeing them as grandparents, and their eyes light up at each word or description about Babycakes. I didn't think anyone could love her as much as DH & I do, but they're definitely a close second :) Here's a pic of us at Christmas:

I also have amazing inlaws, who live within 10 minutes of us, and who watch Babycakes a couple times a week. And my brother-in-law is in the same city too, and actually works with DH at their web development company. It's been so nice to have all of them so close by. Here's a pic of all of us at Thanksgiving:

5) Doggies
It's a love/hate relationship I have with these doggies :) Like most of the time I love them, but I hate when they wake me up at 2AM. Didn't they get the memo?? It's the BABY that's supposed to wake me up in the middle of the nights, not the doggies! I'm hoping the pooch runs witll help with that. Here's Chloe playing... I love those floppy ears! My other favorite doggie pic is here.

6) Being outside
I love hiking, fishing (fly-fishing specifically), gardening, playing, and all things outside. I'm sooooooooo glad it's almost summer!!! Here's a pic of me in Montana catching a large trout (bigger than DH's, just sayin'!)

7) Health
As my grandpa used to say, "If you don't have your health, you don't have anything." My grandpa was an avid swimmer even in his 80s! This is so true, though. I am making a concerted effort to get healthy this year and be a great example for my little munchkin. 53 pounds gone, 27 to go!

Please feel free to email me anytime. Thank you for joining me on this journey!!

Love your site!
Found your site through a pin on pinterest and I love your about me section! I have a lot in common with you so I feel like we are friends already! lol. I have a little boy who will be 2 next month, have also recently lost 50lbs (10 more to go), love Jesus, and also have a beagle (which is what it looks like your dog is). Anyhow, I am on the same journey as you- living a healthy life and cutting out the sugar so it's always nice to see others on the same journey :)
You Look GREAT!
Hello Kelly,
I just found your FB page and website. I saw your b4 and after picture and it's like I was seeing me! I am about 65 pounds overweight struggling a bit with Celiac disease and a husband who is a meat and potatoes guy...no veggies. I desperately want to lose my weight (which I didn't gain by pregnancy) and feel like myself again. Tell me...how long have you been eating/drinking the no sugar way and losing weight? I'm starting a Paleo cleanse next month and going to dramatically change the way I eat in general. I need to look and feel better overall...sooner than later. Like you this is my year to take care ME!
Thanks for taking the time to read my post and respond. :-)
Cheryl
Thx, Cheryl!
I started with my first juicing Reboot last August. So it's been one year. I've lost 55 pounds so far, with more to come (off) this fall. You're already doing great because you've chosen... to make this year YOUR year. You can do it!! Please let me know if there's anything I can do to be a support along the way :)
So, you did the Reboot too! I
So, you did the Reboot too! I'm planning on that myself but doing a 28 day Paleo Cleanse first. Need to get rid of the gluten in my system then off to the races with Reboot. How long did you do the Reboot? There are a couple different programs. :-)
Thanks for offering your support. Where do you live? It looks absolutely beautiful!
15 Day Classic Reboot
I did the 15 day Classic Reboot: 5 days fruits/veggies, followed by 5 just juicing, followed by 5 days fruits/veggies. It really did just that - it rebooted my system, helped me cut out sugar for good, and start on the path towards the happy healthy life. I did a 2nd Reboot this year to document the process with shopping lists, costs, menu plans, etc... you can see the start of that here: http://nosugarsweetlife.com/content/reboot-part-1-grocery-list-menu-cost
PS. I live in Colorado, and love it!
Hello!
So thankful for your website. I weigh about the same as you and have been on a plateau for quite awhile. I have the exercise part down but not the food..ahhh! Sugar has got to be the hardest thing to cut out or cut back on. Anyways, just wanted to say hi and if you have any helpful tips I would love to hear them. I live in Colorado too :)
Great Site!
Stumbled on your site through JoinTheReboot... Love your site & attitude for health! Will try some of the yummy recipes!
Thank you!
Found your website through the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead FB page, and I'm soooo thankful I did...I've hit my all time high weight due to stress, sugar and not taking care of myself. Your words, photos and stories are wonderful, and I'm excited get going! My hubby and I have all the tools - juicer, slow-cooker, wonderful farmers markets, and a good support system. There's no reason for me to not get going, and your site will provide lots of encouragement. Thank you so much!
Recipes
I love the recipes you have posted. We have tried several and they are so delicious. Thank you for sharing. I love your blog, and am so glad that you discovered your "dream" house was not a dream due to the predator in the neighborhood and pray that the right house comes along. I believe that when God closes a door, he opens a window. I am also on a weight loss journey and working to improve my health, one step at a time.
Amazing
I stumbled onto your blog by doing a search for a recipe similar to Costco's lemon-ginger-sesame dressing. Didn't find that recipe here, but found so much more that is of value to me. I will be back again soon...God bless you and your beautiful family.
PS
Notice the Gnome profile pic? Three guesses why it is there; and thew first two don't count. I have about 80 lbs to loose still...
Hello!
I just found your website, while looking for recipes for my new juicer that my husband and I purchased yesterday after watching FS&ND on Netflix. SO excited to get started, and SOOOOO excited to have found your blog :) Thank you for posting all the great recipes! Oh, and you are my new best friend. I thought you should know.
Blessings,
Lisa
Hi! I ran across your page
Hi! I ran across your page looking for sites about juicing which I just recently started doing ! Let me just say u r an inspiration to me and I feel lucky to have stumbled across your fabulous page. I have read everything! Your little girl is beautiful just like you. I have been through a lot especially with my little boy who was born with 2 holes in his heart and had open heart surgery at 5 weeks old he is now 2 and healthy crazy and absolutely my world. It's time for me to get healthy for myself and for him (he's fast lol). I did a weekend blitz but did not lose any weight so I'm going for a week but not sure if I'm doing something wrong I'm following the "juice diet" a book I found at Barnes and noble. Juices r fantastic I've been following it to a T I guests I just need to be patient. Any advice would be truly appreciated...
Wow!
You are such an inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing your life, insight and advice. I look forward to keeping up with your blog :)!
The Important Things in Life
I just found your blog and I don't know much about them but after looking at all your recipes I hope they will help me with controlling my weight as well. We think about so many things that are important to us and well... at least for myself I don't add me that list and I should. I have my health on my list and I am working on it and part of that work starts here. I thought I saw a note that you are going to end it in March 2013. Will it be possible to access the information after that? I sure would like too. Though I do not eat a lot of sweets I know sugar filters into my diet in other ways and well i just need to figure out how to filter it out. I find your food items helpful. Congratulations on your weight loss, not easy but you did it. Thank you for your inspiration. I wish I would have found your blog sooner.
Hi!!!!
Just wanted to say hello and say how much I like your blog and web site. I am exploring the idea of juicing and a healthier lifestyle. Your personal testimony of health is very inspiring to me. I'm a grandmother, but I don't think it is ever too late to do the right thing and take care of myself. Blessings to you and your family! Thank you for all of the effort you put into getting the message out.
What kind of juicer?
Hi! I love your blog, and I myself am trying to get healthier and loose weight! I have been wanting to juice, as I've heard great things about it's health benefits, but I don't know which kind to get.
So I was wondering what kind of juicer do you use?
Thanks!

Portion Control Bowls
Hi Kelly!
I'm loving your website more and more as I visit. I had a question - are the Simple Portion bowls that you were promoting still for sale? I love them and was wondering about that. Thanks a bunch!
